Empty America

Overview

Left jobless, homeless and roots-less by the Covid pandemic in March, 2020, I asked myself: “What does America look like when it’s shut down?” 3 weeks, 8600 miles, 17 cities and one iPhone and Ford Fiesta later, I had my answer. From the Venice Boardwalk to Times Square, Bourbon Street to Fisherman’s Wharf, this is a unique time capsule and one man’s quest to capture a moment in American history. 139 pictures of that journey have been acquired for the Smithsonian Institution archives.
Other artists caught a city, a moment, a region…This film captures America at its quietest.

Director – Joel Bryant
