Overview

Dragunov starts in 1980s Afghanistan during the war with Russia, and moves to the present time and the conflict between the Taliban and coalition forces. The main characters are two western mercenaries, Finch (ex Royal Marine Commando) and Bréchignac (former Foreign Legion Paratrooper), and Massoud, the lone Mujahideen fighter who pursues them through hostile territory.

Massoud possesses deadly sniper skills and a Russian Dragunov rifle, both inherited from his father Zahir, who was a feared warrior during the war with Russia.

Dragunov is more about men at war rather than the actual fighting. The film focuses mainly on the precarious bond between the two mercenaries as they plan their escape, and the solitary hunter while he decides the fate of the men he has trapped.

Director – Robin Kirwan
