Overview

I remember that day when
The clocks stopped ticking and
The airwaves were thick and course
With words I’d never heard before

I try to make it all make sense
Empty equations in my head
So tell me I don’t understand
Maybe I’ll never understand

I saw the light begin to fade
Like the smile on your face
I held the rose and felt the thorn
I hurt myself to keep you strong

What you gave and took away
Gifts of conflict and of pain
You still have your liberties
But it’s the same air that I breathe

Look over my shoulder and
Hope for order in this land
Say a prayer for the lost souls
Say a prayer for all of us

I felt the light begin to fade
Like the smile on your face
I watched it on the big screen
I saw what no one else could see
I took my heart out of its cage
I touched the fire to feel the flames
I held the rose and felt the thorn
I hurt myself to keep you strong

I see my face in the water
And I see you there
Your voice as clear as crystal
And it will never fade
It will never fade
It will never fade
